Dave Cicero
is sharing an exhibition space at Waukesha's Clinton Street Gallery with a few Waukesha School District colleagues (who he's still trying to recruit into MATA!) Clinton Street is a co-op gallery owned by a fairly recent Waukesha HS grad, and is an active participant in Waukesha Art Crawls--where you'll be welcomed warmly when you visit. See you on Dec.4, with the MATA contingent?
Meagan Hahn
Oak Creek East Middle School art students have made their mark on a FAVORITE local store in a HOT Milwaukee location! 7th grade art students participated in a School-Community-Business connection with Oak Creek alumni, Kate Strzok, owner of Broadway Paper Company. Students worked together in Art class to create and assemble three dimensional paper forms to be hung as a window installation at Broadway Paper's "Pop Up" store in downtown Milwaukee. The display showcases several popular specialty papers (donated by Broadway Paper) along with hand-painted papers by students and recycled book pages. Students were responsible for all sewing, cutting, gluing, assembling and “packaging” of the artwork. The display was installed by art teachers, Rhonda Augustiniak and Meagan Hahn(MATA member)and now hangs in the newly renovated Colby Abbot building on the corner of N. Milwaukee and E. Mason Street for the holiday shopping season. The students' art work was also featured on the WISN news. Click here for a link to the slideshow.
Stop by Broadway Paper Company's POP UP store in downtown Milwaukee to see the artwork that's got Milwaukee going crazy over paper! :)
